Our Journey:
Scarlett Josephine Was born on Feb 12, 2022, that is when our world changed for the better! Everything was going well as first time parents but she was born a bit smaller at 5lbs 4oz. She was vomiting quite often so the doctors requested we go for weekly weight checks at the hospital. At the two month mark she refused the bottle completely due to severe reflux and bottle aversion and they admitted Scarlett for a week stay at the hospital. That’s when the first NG tube was put in. They tested her blood for genetics and continued the weekly weight checks, on Friday the 13th (of all days) in May of 2022 the blood work came back from SickKids. Scarlett is the 14th documented case in the world of an ultra rare genetic deletion of chromosome 3p13p12. The doctors couldn’t give us much information and aren’t sure what that means for Scarlett as there isn’t enough information out there on this topic. We are happy to say she is now over seven months old, still feed exclusively through the NG tube and over 13lbs!
After leaving the hospital one day watching the nurses struggle with the tape they are provided with as well as changing the clear tape daily we decided to look online for another option. We couldn’t find anything that we liked so we decided to go down the rabbit hole researching medical grade waterproof latex free adhesives.
